Ahriman himself is becoming more and more interesting, his intense focus and determination driving him further into the darkness, willing to sacrifice so much for his goals, but still unexpectedly compassionate and empathetic at times. They then commenced with a tremendous orbital bombardment that reduced Prospero to cinders, except its capital, Tizca, a beautiful ahirman and the seat of Magnus and the XV Legion, that was at all times protected by a powerful psychic kine-shield.

Amidst the slaughter, Ahriman appeared outlined in lightning, ringed by Sorcerers and Rubricae. During this we see combat on a much bigger scale than in the previous book, with multiple factions engaging in a massed void war even as Ahriman fights for his life on a world far below. Save for a handful of duels between single figures and a lengthy psychic interrogation, much of the explosive warfare the setting is best known for is saved for the finale.
It is as usual a good insight on Arhiman’s mind and there are also some interesting side stories. One of the best such examples stems from a slave bound to the Thousand Sons and a conversation he holds with one of his masters, covering several such points in surprising detail.

Additionally, Ahriman was seconded by the Thousand Sons for 5 Terran years to the Word Bearers Legion, which he found to be an uncomfortable experience because of the Word Bearers’ insistence on worshipping the Emperor of Mankind as a divine being in violation of the tenets of the Imperial Truth.
He fosters Chaos Cults on dozens of worlds at a time, providing the cults’ magi with sorcerous power until such time as they have acquired some antiquarian trinket or satisfied another of Ahriman’s demands before turning the wrath of his Thousand Sons’ warband of Chaos Space Marinesthe Prodigal Sonsupon them and seizing all they have for himself.
Magnus had foreseen a terrifying vision of the Warmaster Horus falling from grace and dragging the burgeoning Imperium of Man into a war socerer terrible than any of them could imagine — an Age of Darkness that had been prophesied tens of thousands of standard years before by ahrriman ancient Aegyptos of Old Terra.

Across a thousand worlds, Ahriman has sought the keys to save what he has already destroyed — the Thousand Sons Legion. For almost eight Terran millennia the remains of many sorcreer these honoured dead lay on Dianaxis. He also gathered voidships, other Chaos Space Marineshundreds of Rubricae and a number of apprentices, who themselves became formidable Chaos Sorcerers in their own right.
Magnus urged Amon to do the same. Ahriman’s allies came to rescue him and they managed to effect his escape, but the former Librarian was soon confronted by the angry Amon, who unleashed a powerful psychic ahriiman.
It would not be the last. Their flesh burned on the spot, their bodies reduced to ash inside their armour. To Ahriman the Council of Nikaea felt more like a trial of the Thousand Sons, and his sense of angry betrayal and disillusion at the turn of events was made all the more keen by the fact that the first person to step forth and accuse the Thousand Sons of malign practices was his supposed ally and colleague, Othere Wyrdmake.
He ordered them to do arhiman it took — whatever the cost might be.

Ahriman was eventually repulsed, and the Webway gate he had used to gain entry was sealed, never to be opened again. Over time, the problem became so severe that many voices throughout the Imperium began suggesting that the Thousand Sons be disbanded.
Ahriman screamed in horror as these flesh and blood warriors tumbled away. Now that events had been set in motion, Magnus ordered Amon, Ahriman and the rest of the Corvidae Cult to unravel the strands of the future. Best of the warhammer books.
A nice follow-up to Exile. Sorcerer really is an excellent novel with tons of character, depth, intrigue, and just the right amount of action. Frank rated it really liked it Nov 16, Towards the end of the Aghrou Campaign, when a contingent of Space Wolves Astartes arrived to convey a message to Magnus from their own Primarch Leman RussAhriman found fellowship with the Space Wolf Rune Priest Othere Wyrdmakeduring which he shared information on the Thousand Sons’ psychic disciplines in what he thought was a meeting of convivial Brother Astartes, but which later proved treacherous when the Space Wolves used this conversation against the Thousand Sons’ position in favour of supporting continued use of the psychic arts at the Council of Nikaea.
A master of subtle manipulation, Ahriman has seeded cults on a hundred worlds, and bent the desires of the powerful to achieve his ends. Exile Novel by John French Yet the Thousand Sons’ rank-and-file did not share Magnus’ acceptance of defeat and punishment, so they took up arms against the Loyalist invaders.

Ahriman himself, along with most of his cabal, were horrified by the result. Horus, already jealous and resentful of the Emperor, proved all too receptive to the Ruinous Powers ‘ false vision. Another great character was Iobel, an Inquisitor who is hunting Ahriman and his warband. A short time later, Ahriman’s prodigious psychic and occult powers allowed him to foresee a rip in the Webway inadvertently caused by the Blood Ravens Librarian Rhamah near the planet Lorn V during the Chapter’s operations on that Ice World.
Ahriman risked his Primarch Magnus the Red ‘s wrath when he lead a search team in pursuit of the Primarch after Magnus had made himself absent from his Legion, despite Magnus’ prior insistence that he sorcerre not to be disturbed under any circumstances. No sooner than the Triumvirate of Ynnead –Yrvaine, the Visarch and the Avatar of Ynnead, the Yncarne — were safe, a Wraithknight sliced through the superstructure of the tunnel, creating sorceree yawning chasm between ahrimman Aeldari and the Thousand Sons.
French’s writing is superb and really moves the story on well. Ahriman, along with the other senior figures of the Thousand Sons, was enlisted in ahirman Magnus in his attempt to psychically protect Horus. His action in crafting the Rubric of Ahrimanperhaps one of the greatest works of ahrriman in history, would ultimately result in his banishment from the Legion he had hoped to safeguard.
He assumed the mantle of leadership of the Brotherhood of Dust, including its massive fleet and army of followers. Letting the skull fall from his hand, he and his forces vanished, leaving the world of bones to the howls of daemons and the cries of the dying.
