The focus is certainly on church leadership, but there is a lot of good advice in here for anyone. Perhaps designed to be read one at a time, I could not stop myself from putting the book down. As an added bonus reflecting on each axiom developed within me a daily habit of reflection time. So, it’s obviously not a book that must be read from cover to cover, and having done that, I will probably only dip into it for relevant chapters from this time forward.
Some books you savor like a Frango mint melting in your mouth. An exellent book that I truly enjoyed.
Books by Bill Hybels. He presents his “axioms” in 76 tersely-written, amply-illustrated chapters that average 2 pages in length. Apr 03, Mike rated it liked it Shelves: He is the creator of the Global Leadership Summit. It’s a short read, each chapter is anywhere from one page to zxiom at the most.
I would recommend it for anyone in leadership.

Oriented toward four key leadership categories Six by Six execution. Can it be launched well? I connected it much more with work I’ve been doing at church to start a somethings group.
The Cross and the Lynching Tree. Each chapter captures an idea and gives some perspective on why Bill lives by it. I thought Axiom was ok, but honestly, I felt like it was getting long ibll the end. I just fished reading Axiom by Bill Hybels with a handful of the leadership team at Central. Taking time each day to reflect on the day and 1 axiom a day built the habit in me.
It reads quick as it is essentially his leadership proverbs, truths discovered over his years as senior pastor at Willow Creek and digested into bite size chunks. Though readable, it’s often boring.
This review is not the place to discuss the pros and cons of WillowCreek-style churches, but my guess is that most pastors will feel like Hybels relates better to a Fortune company than to a local church of average size. Bill Hybels has proven over time that he can not only lead a church but can inspire other leaders to lead well – and this book is a distillation of his leadership philosophy into bite-sized pieces.
Teamwork and Communication Richard Burkey Pingback: Hybels gives stories of various growth pains and how they overcame them. Some chapters were better than others more helpful and could perhaps be extracted for teaching purposes, but on the whole I would not recommend hybles book. Before you embark on a hybbels project or producing a new product you have to ask yourself: I’ve read a few of Bill Hybels’ books now, and a few things are blindingly obvious.
