The auto setting on the compressor is remarkably effective, and most users will want to use this rather than try to tune the attack and release times. If your input source tends to be pretty consistent and you just want to boost the low and compress the high signals, this would be an excellent choice. I can however see that the amount of effect on the sound can be somewhat limited so I guess that is why some experienced users may think of it as more of an entry level product.

Additionally it features a unique adjustable IDE dynamic enhancer that provides subtle and very musical compensation for the bass “boost” effect that can result from heavy compression. It can operate at a wide range of line levels, balanced or unbalanced, but it is not designed to take direct input from a guitar or bass.
I examined the inside of this unit, and it is not nearly as badly-made as their BLE, and in fact is exactly behinger same quality as most other “budget-priced” studio gear.
Behringer gets a lot of hate for making cheap Chinese copies of gear from other “better” brands; but to be fair, a lot of that commentary including from me is about ideasnot about the actual sound autoocom longevity of Behr’s products. If you need something that provides acceptable performance with a minimum of potential pitfalls and high ease of use, this is a good unit. Expander, gate, compressor, peak limiter and de-esser.
As long as you don’t drop it, it will work just as well -and sound just as good- as comps that cost a lot more. Nice for beginners or less demanding needs, bheringer not as controllable as needed in professional applications. The compression action is pretty decent and versatile. I have to be honest and say this unit is much better than I expected.

Bbehringer is easy to use and to set up to get a nice sound output. If you’re getting something for a dedicated studio where you can afford fifteen minutes to perfect a single channel input, you probably need to spend a lot more money.
Brings the loud passages down and boosts the quiet passages. It dynamically un-compresses high frequencies in proportion to the overall compression applied, which allows a brighter, more articulate sound.
