The book examines similar tales in comparative mythology and states that thousands of years ago, earth was a former satellite of Saturnand that a vastly different solar system alignment existed. The total lack of knowledge and probable prejudice against Astrology in an area of interpreting the visual records of the Ancients about the Stars is CRASS!
The basis for the book’s claims rely on recurring tales in mythology regarding ancient archetypes and formulates a cosmological answer for the many similarities between these myths. To add as a note, I think the kind of theory put forth by Talbott is what one may rightly call a historical-materialist theory of mythol I’m a sucker for rationalist theories, and when someone can come up with something that unifies not just one, but many fields, I can’t say I find it hard to fall right in.
He is the author of several books related to comparative mythology and alternative histories of the solar system, including The Saturn Myth.

As Talbott says, the ancients were great architects who built with great precision and astronomers who used mathematics to predict with astounding accuracy, yet when it comes to their myths we are to believe they were all of a sudden spooked fools who merely concocted fairy tales and took them too seriously. Originally inspired by Velikovsky, Talbott envisioned a congregation of planets physically close to the earth in ancient times in which “the five planets Jupiter, Saturn, Venus, Mars and the Earth orbited the Sun as a single linear unit, which rotated about a point close to Saturn, before its break-up at the end of the Golden Age”.
But this stage of disentangling cannot be started without excluding the Roman and Greek jokers who caused quite a lot of the mess.
